I took my old Point & Shoot film camera out with me today and shot a few panoramic street shots. I took these on my journey between assignments using black & white film and an old Samsung VEGA 290w 35mm compact.
Studio Triptych portrait of me. I shot this on a 5X4 ARCA Swiss field camera, using 120 Roll film in a Horseman film back. I used a wide angle lens fired using a cable release. I lite it with a single small ring flash (on the lens). The film is black & white, I processed & scanned it myself. The editing was done in Lightroom, I used minimal adjustments and no filters or effects.by
I shot this portrait on 35mm black & white film using my old Nikon and a 50mm lens. We went for a no frills available light shot (shot at home in my livingroom). I processed and scanned the image then edited it in Adobe Lightroom.

In-between assignments on Saturday (10th December 2016) I took my old Nikon F70 film camera out for a test. I bought it back in about 1996 and haven’t shot anything on it for at least ten years. I was working near the Strand and had some time to kill before my evening shoot, so i went for a walk around Covent Garden I wanted to try the One Film Challenge. The one film challenge is a great discipline for helping with composition, timing and exposure.
As the name suggests you take one roll of film (I used a roll of 24 exposure Fomapan 400 which I was given as a freebie) and see what images you can come up with. The lighting on Saturday was particularly difficult as it was rainy, overcast and I didn’t start shooting until around 15.00hrs so it was getting quite dark.
Below is a gallery of some of the images.
My Nikon F70 seemed to have a problem winding on the film to the next frame, the images below is an accidental multiple exposure of three images, although it was a mistake I quite like it.
I processed the film myself and also digitally copied them.
Below is the camera I shot them on.by
Looking through my archives today and I found an old print image I made a few years ago. In-fact about 24 years ago in 1992 . Its a great shot I took of Andy Bell during his Abba-esque tour. Its a print that i made myself. My first photographic roll was when I left college was worked for a local wedding photographer, I spent many years working in darkrooms producing prints and processing colour film and transparency film as well as black & white. Obviously I was well ahead of the Instagram trend of adding edge markings as you can see I printed this full frame to show the 35mm Kodak Film sprockets.
I shot this using 35mm Kodak Film, I think its Kodak Gold 200 ISO. I cant remember what camera it was shot on, probably an Nikon FM3A. I printed it on Kodak professional paper using a Durst enlarger like the image below.by
